plus one more ... a very young Normandeau

Avery Grace, 6 months - Lake Weslemkoon, Canada
When we left Boston in 2005, I left behind a small piece of my heart and some terrifically good friends. Fortunately, distance is not the end for good friendships.

Last summer, I travelled back to Boston for the wedding of one such friend. Although born a half a world apart, it would appear we are something akin to sisters, and so I am quite sure that Doc Young and I will continue to get ourselves into troubles together for years to come.

This summer Amanda and Dave travelled up to the cottage with their newest addition, Avery (Grace) Young Normandeau or, 'a very young Normandeau', if you enjoy word games!

Since I seem to be in dotting aunt mode, it seems ever so appropriate to introduce you to this little one whilst I am in a slew of kiddie-blogging. So, please allow me to introduce my lovely god-daughter!

Given  Amanda's love of the water, it was no surprise how relaxed and happy Avery was in the lake.

Avery was 6 months when we finally met this summer and was already demonstrating some serious personality:

I particularly enjoyed the look of distain she offered David upon seeing his choice of dessert one night:

Apparently we also did our best to recreate some fine 1970's French Canadian cookbook shots (give or take the pink Bumbo) ...

If we lived a tad closer, I suspect she might grow up thinking she had two mums, but alas, she shall mainly know me as a two dimensional figure for the immediate future (at least I can still watch her grow, thank you Skype). Still, there will be many years for spoiling my dear Avery, and I shall do my best to provide her with some strong moral and spiritual guidance in addition with a sparkly magic wand or two as the years unfold (as per the job description provided for the role of god-mother)

First and foremost, however, I have made it my mission to ensure her noggin is always protected in fine style!
Sleep tight, Avery Grace, then come and visit Sweden soon!

So gald that we had the chance to spend some time with you at the cottage. We had a wonderful time! I had an idea -- I think we should move forward on the cookbook idea ... how about 70s cuisine from around the world? Looking forward to watching you watch our little Normandeau grow, Amanda xx
