sjutton

Yes, that is seventeen in Svenska: the nearest (but still butchered) anglocized pronunciation would be "shoe-tawn", although neither sound is made in a way that your mouth would operate whilst speaking English.  Ah well.  Gift of the day:

Thai lemongrass massage oil; handy for romantic evenings, and chicken dishes with glass noodles.  Excellent.

As you can see, around here it really is beginning to look a lot like ... nothing even remotely close to Christmas.

Snow was falling fast and furious for a brief time yesterday, but it was still between two and four degrees C for the last twenty-four hours, so none remains.  This matching the none showing on the forecast for the next week.  None snow.  Richard does not mind so much; this kind of 'winter' weather is novel to him.  Jennie on the other hand misses her white stuff.

Sadly, one thing we do have in common this weekend are some colds.  Jennie never quite kicked that stomach thing she got last weekend, and Richard ... well, schools are germy at the best of times.  It is the kind of weekend to do a quick town run to the favourite bakery for a few essentials:

... make up one's preferred hot beverage to enjoy with the finest kardemumsbulle in town (and beyond), and then settle in for some long winter's napping and movie watching.  Last year several people asked Richard if he had bought some of the special Christmas coffee blend offered by one Swedish brand (but not our local one).  The answer last year was no.

He made sure to grab some to try this year ... and after trying it, he went out and bought more.  It really is fantastic coffee, and even from what little each of us can smell, it fills our apartment with a most splendid aroma.  Three cheers for simple comforts, and here's hoping that another big sleep will leave the both of us feeling better.
