***** Warning: graphic images below *****

Sunday marked the first Sunday in Advent, and the official opening ceremony for our town's famous goat - Gävlebocken.

Alas, it would seem that all the good planning in place on Sunday ...

... was no match for the flames set to the poor fellow early this morning.

Smoke and charred goat feet en route to the office today

Poor fellow!  Seems much to short a time to have had him around, but at least I was mentally prepared for such an eventuality this year.  Still ... I will miss him on my daily commute!

Some years they have replaced the goat following an early exit in a fiery blaze, but the town has vowed there will be no such replacement this year. Silly arsonists -- next time, please wait a few more weeks!

On a happier note: here is today's excitement from the advent calendar:

Happy weekend to all -  and please keep your fingers crossed that the snow storm they keep 'threatening' might actually come to fruition and deliver some snow to Sweden!

If you make the arrangements. I know a Canadian that would happily give you all our snow.
Today there was a light skiff of snow but it melted as fast as it fell.
